PENINSULA YACHT CLUB HOSTS CHILDRENS FISHING AND STORY TIME On Saturday June 17th, The Peninsula Yacht Club hosted a group of 23 junior anglers between the ages of 5 and 15. The day began with Captain Harry Smith, Peninsula Yacht Club Marina Manager conducting the anglers meeting followed by an always captivating and entertaining introduction, by Captain Gus Gustafson, to Lake Norman fishing and instruction on how to set up their rod and reel. The event was jointly sponsored by The Peninsula Yacht Club, members David & Barbara Goodman and Chris and Deb Cawley, Captain Gus and Glenn and Kathy from Home Helpers (who provided removable tattoos for the anglers). Following a successful morning of fishing, Chris and Deb Cawley provided a barbeque for all anglers, parents and sponsors and Captain Gus hosted “story time” which included telling about the latest citing of The Lake Norman Monster “Normie”. Courtesy of David & Barbara Goodman, each angler was gifted the rod, reel and tackle and was presented with a Certificate of Participation signed by Captains Harry Smith and Gus Gustafson. This event begins the promoting of young angler fishing events on Lake Norman and is hoped to develop into a foundation that affords children fishing opportunities and increases awareness of the beauty of Lake Norman. Further information is available from David Goodman, derbbs@gmail.com. In the attached photo, from left to right, the back row is: Capt. Gus Gustafson, David Goodman, Chris Cawley, Capt. Harry Smith
