Date: 5/1/2009 Time: 6:00 am to 9:00 am Location: Downtown Mooresville (View Map)
Description: The "Taste of Wine on Main Street” an outreach effort by Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Church allows participants to buy tickets for a wine tasting that is scattered through participating businesses in Downtown Mooresville. Eight businesses offer food and wine pairings that have all been donated by various restaurants and wineries. The event last fall raised about $2,000 and provided enough groceries to feed over 20 families in Mooresville for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Tickets can be purchased at participating businesses, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church at 201 Fairview Road $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Church has worked for years in conjunction with Barbara Johnson and the Winnie Hooper Center to raise money for local families in need. Saint Patrick’s uses the money to buy groceries that are given to families in Mooresville – groceries are purchased at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. One of the notable benefits of this program is that the food is provided to the families so they can cook a holiday meal in their own home. In addition, staple grocery items are provided as a means to stock the families’ pantries for beyond the holiday.
