Prizes that can be won include: $10,000 CASH, a set of Hogan BH-5 Offset Irons, Bose Music System, and a Dell Computer System. Other prizes include: Champion, 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, mixed division, closest to the pin, longest drive, and a tee prize. Mike Gentile, a certified physical trainer and Reiki master teaches Tai Chi on Mondays at 11 a.m. Cost is $36 per person for a six week session. Tai Chi, it’s good for the body! Call the Senior Center for the dates of the next class session. Newcomers to the class can enter between sessions and the fee will be adjusted.

This group began in March of 2003 after as we discovered a need for local families to feel connected to others in their same situation. We live in an area too far from military installations to benefit from support services the military provides. The families that have joined our group have become close and dedicated to helping others manage the sadness and frustration that comes with having a loved one serve in the military during times of combat. Your loved one does not have to be stationed overseas to be part of this group.

Harbinson, who will guest conduct. A Meet-the-Composer reception will follow the performance. Description: Tetanus, commonly called lockjaw, is a bacterial disease that affects the nervous system. It is commonly found in soil, dust and manure. It is contracted through a wound in the skin. The Iredell County Health Department will be at South Iredell Senior Center on Mon., May 19 from 10:30-12 to administer FREE Tetanus vaccine to seniors. An appointment is necessary and should be made by Fri., May 16.

Mike Gentile, a certified physical trainer and Reiki master will teach a beginner’s Tai Chi class for FREE on May 5, 12 & 19. Pre-registration is required for this class.
He also teaches Tai Chi on Mondays at 11 a.m. Cost is $36 per person for a six week session. The next session starts on June 9.

Description: Learn to Live a Healthier Life, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) is a workshop given once a week for six weeks for people with different chronic health problems. Classes are highly participative. Mutual support and success build participant confidence in their own ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. Subjects covered will include: dealing with frustration, fatigue, and pain, exercising for improving strength, flexibility and endurance, appropriate use of medications, how to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, nutrition, and how to evaluate treatments. Sponsored by the Centralina Area Agency on Aging, classes are FREE and will be held at the South Iredell Senior Center in the Lowrance Room of the Mooresville Citizens Center starting May 20, 2008. The program is specifically targeted to older adults that are illiterate or that do not drive, since they are more likely to be subjected to abuse and neglect.
