Description: Seniors have the opportunity to take a basic beginning computers class as part of a collaborating effort between South Iredell Senior Center and Mitchell Community College. Seniors are reminded that they may use the computer lab at the Senior Center for practice anytime outside of class during operating hours. Please call ahead. Pre-registration is required at South Iredell Senior Center.

Also reviewed will be the steps you should take before applying for a reverse mortgage. The educational program is being presented by United Family Services, inspiring individuals, families, and communities to find solutions that create a better future.

Description: All seniors are invited to attend a program on Active Independent Retirement Living. The program and breakfast is being hosted by Shads Landing. George and Nancy Lewis will inform individuals of how Shads Landing addresses independent living for seniors. No selling or soliciting is permitted. Please inform the Senior Center by March 27 if you plan to attend.

Description: Bill Wilson and Mary Bethel, Associate State Directors for Advocacy with AARP North Carolina will train individuals on how to be an effective advocate for older adult issues on Mon., March 31 at 10:30 a.m. They will review senior advocacy strategies and techniques, the legislative process, and long and short session priorities. The program will conclude with an open dialog session giving seniors the opportunity to ask questions and voice their concerns regarding aging issues.

Description: Recommended by the Arthritis Foundation, it’s good for the body, mind, and spirit. It helps to improve high blood pressure, balance, muscle tone, circulation, flexibility, aching backs and joints. It can even help you lose weight. Mike Gentile, a certified physical trainer and Reiki master teaches Tai Chi on Mondays at 11 a.m. Cost is $36 per person for a six week session. Tai Chi, it’s good for the body! The next class session starts on April 14, but as a newcomer, you can enter between sessions and the fee will be adjusted.
