Going to be out of town? You can pre-shop with a Belk’s card the week prior to the sale and still get the same great discounts that you would on May 2, you MUST have a ticket though. Tickets are $5 each and are available at the main desk of the South Iredell Senior Center, 202 N. Daycare provided upon prior request and arrangement. These support groups are open to the community. This group is supported by the Western Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. *Prostate Cancer Support Group meets the last Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m., everyone -male, female, friends, family, etc. are welcome to attend. Refreshment provided by Summit Plc. and pizza provided quarterly by Vocelli Pizza. *Parkinson Support Group meets the 3rd Tuesday at 2 p.m. lead by Lake Norman Inspirations. Classes are approximately one hour long and open to all seniors age 60 or better with priority given to Iredell County residents. Information on guidelines and fees are available upon request. It is recommended that new participants observe their class of choice before registering. Private lessons are available for the disabled, visually or physically impaired. The group performs in the community for FREE as part of an outreach effort, offering a wide range of performances some of which include funny but educational material that address such issues as ageism, social security, stereotyping, age discrimination, and other skits just to make you laugh. If you would like the Reader’s Theatre to perform for your group or club, call Tina at the Senior Center. Skits and programs can be geared toward specific groups. New members are welcome and encouraged to join. No Experience necessary and observers are welcome. Come have fun, feel younger, and be proactive in maintaining good mental health. The Cooperative Extension will offer the program at South Iredell Senior Center beginning Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Classes will meet each Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. at the South Iredell Senior Center, 202 North Church St. in Downtown Mooresville. Weekly meetings include weigh-ins, goal setting, nutrition education, and support to help you achieve your healthy weight goals. During the last series, the biggest losers lost 18 pounds each. There are no special diets or products to buy. Participants will have the opportunities to sample healthy foods. The cost is $12 for the entire series and will cover materials and supplies.
