Event Details Charity Sale Date: 4/9/2009 until 5/2/2009 Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Location: South Iredell Senior Center (View Map) Description: The South Iredell Senior Center will be particpating in the Belk Chairty Sale on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 6 - 10 a.m. This is an easy way to help the Senior Center and take advantage of some great discounts. Going to be out of town? You can pre-shop with a Belk’s card the week prior to the sale and still get the same great discounts that you would on May 2, you MUST have a ticket though. Tickets are $5 each and are available at the main desk of the South Iredell Senior Center, 202 N. Church St. Mooresville from 8 a.m. -5 p.m. With a ticket you get: $5 off your first purchase, 20 to 50 % off storewide (including rarely discounted brands), a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree, and if you spend $50 or more you will get $10 in Belk’s bonus bucks to spend at a later date. For more information contact: Tina Czarnecki sisc@windstream.net 704-662-3337 Event Posted by: sisc Duplicate this event Return to event calendar SISC Support Groups Date: 4/27/2009 Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Location: South Iredell Senior Center (View Map) Description: *Stroke Survivor Support Group meets the 1st Thursday of each month from 1-3 p.m. The group reaches out to individuals in the community and supports them in coming to terms with how their life has changed and issues they face in every day life. *Diabetes Support Group meets on the 4th Monday at 12 noon. *Dementia Support Group meets on the 2nd Wednesday at 2 p.m. and is designed for caregivers of individuals with dementia. Daycare provided upon prior request and arrangement. These support groups are open to the community. This group is supported by the Western Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. *Prostate Cancer Support Group meets the last Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m., everyone -male, female, friends, family, etc. are welcome to attend. Refreshment provided by Summit Plc. and pizza provided quarterly by Vocelli Pizza. *Parkinson Support Group meets the 3rd Tuesday at 2 p.m. lead by Lake Norman Inspirations. Classes are approximately one hour long and open to all seniors age 60 or better with priority given to Iredell County residents. Information on guidelines and fees are available upon request. It is recommended that new participants observe their class of choice before registering. Private lessons are available for the disabled, visually or physically impaired. Tai Chi may help some individuals to improve high blood pressure, balance, muscle tone, circulation, flexibility, aching backs and joints. It has even helped some to lose weight. Mike Gentile, a certified physical trainer and AF instructor, and Reiki master teaches a Tai Chi class on Mondays from 11 a.m. – noon, as well as a beginner’s Tai Chi class from 12:15-1:15 p.m. Cost is $36 per person for a six week session. Highly recommended by the Arthritis Foundation, the class is designed for people with arthritis and is a recreational program. Mike Gentile, an Arthritis Foundation certified instructor will teach the class starting April 6. The class will meet on Mondays from 12:15-1:15 p.m. for six weeks and cost $36 per person. Space is limited and registration is taken by payment only. The facility and instructor can accommodate individuals interested in taking the class who have a physical disability or impairment. It’s a fun game that can bring out the competitiveness in everyone. It’s also a great way to stay in practice for Senior Games.
